Our Good Causes: Winston’s Wish

At Play it Green, 10% of everything we receive from our customers goes to a good cause of their choice. One of these good causes is Winston’s Wish, and today we would like to take a moment and celebrate all of the important work that they do.

Winton’s Wish’s mission is for a society in which every child can get the help they need when someone important to them dies. The first childhood bereavement charity in the UK, they have been supporting grieving children and young people since 1992.

The death of a parent, sibling or friend is one of the most traumatic situations for a child to experience, but with the help of Winston’s Wish, they are not alone and can face the future with hope.

Winston’s Wish continue to lead the way in providing specialist child bereavement support services across the UK, providing emotional and practical bereavement support to children, young people and those who care for them. Their expert teams offer one-off and ongoing bereavement support, group and individual sessions, and they also provide online resources, specialist publications and training for professionals.

Their values are to be caring, hopeful, and honest, to respect others, and to try new things.

Winston’s Wish are also committed to repairing the planet, with Play it Green aiding them in their journey. Together, we will be working to bring Play it Green’s 3-step solution of Reduce, Repair, Regive to a wider community of people and to make an even bigger positive impact.

Paul Moore, Director of Fundraising and Marketing for Winston’s Wish, said, “When Play It Green got in touch we knew it was a business we wanted to partner with. They share our values and have a real drive to help us achieve our vision of a society in which every child can get the help they need when someone important to them dies.”

“We’re really excited to work with them in the coming months and to introduce the Play It Green business model to our community of supporters to help them reforest the planet and lower their carbon footprint whilst continuing their support for Winston’s Wish.”

Chris Thair, Co-Founder and CEO of Play it Green, added, “People who take action with us on climate change are doing so to leave a better world for their children and future generations.

“We applaud the work of Winston’s Wish with young people, supporting them at a time when they have experienced one of the most devastating losses a child will ever face.”

“Winston’s Wish provides essential support services in the present when they are needed the most and, by doing so, ensures a brighter future for those children and those around them. We share these same principles, and it is a pleasure to support this wonderful charity.”
