Our Policies & Articles
POLICY STATEMENT
Modern slavery is a crime and a violation of fundamental human rights. It takes various forms, such as slavery, servitude, forced and compulsory labour, and human trafficking (“modern slavery”), all of which include the deprivation of a person’s liberty by another in order to exploit them for personal or commercial gain.
Play it Green has a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery within its business and supply chains.
This policy applies to all persons:
(a) working for Play It Green, or on our behalf, in any capacity, including employees at all levels, directors, officers, agency workers, seconded workers, volunteers, interns and agents (“Play It Green Staff”); and
(b) our contractors, external consultants, agencies, third-party representatives, and business partners (“Suppliers”).
Play It Green is committed to:
(a) acting ethically and with integrity in all our business dealings and relationships;
(b) implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure modern slavery is not taking place anywhere in our business or in any of our supply chains; and
(c) ensuring there is transparency in our approach to tackling modern slavery in our business and in our supply chains consistent with our disclosure obligations under the Modern Slavery Act 2015.
We expect the same high standards from all of our Suppliers. As part of our contracting process, we include specific prohibitions against modern slavery, and we expect that our Suppliers will hold their own suppliers to the same high standards.
IDENTIFYING MODERN SLAVERY
Modern slavery may be found in:
(a) our business, for example our cleaning and catering workforce;
(b) our supply chains;
(c) outsourced activities, particularly to jurisdictions that may not have adequate modern slavery safeguards.
There is no typical victim of modern slavery, and some victims do not understand they have been exploited and are entitled to help and support. However, the following key signs could indicate that someone may be a victim of modern slavery or human trafficking:
(a) The person is not in possession of their own passport, identification or travel documents.
(b) The person is acting as though they are being instructed or coached by someone else.
(c) The person allows others to speak for them when spoken to directly.
(d) The person is dropped off and collected from work.
(e) The person is withdrawn or appears frightened.
(f) The person does not seem to be able to contact friends or family freely.
(g) The person has limited social interaction or contact with people outside of their immediate environment. The above list is not exhaustive. A person may display a number of the indicators set out above, but they may not necessarily be a victim of slavery or trafficking.

The Legal Team has primary and responsibility for implementing this policy, and dealing with any queries about it.

Cookie Policy of Play It Green
This document informs Users about the technologies that help Play It Green to achieve the purposes described below. Such technologies allow the Owner to access and store information (for example by using a Cookie) or use resources (for example by running a script) on a User’s device as they interact with Play It Green.
For simplicity, all such technologies are defined as “Trackers” within this document – unless there is a reason to differentiate.
For example, while Cookies can be used on both web and mobile browsers, it would be inaccurate to talk about Cookies in the context of mobile apps as they are a browser-based Tracker. For this reason, within this document, the term Cookies is only used where it is specifically meant to indicate that particular type of Tracker.
Some of the purposes for which Trackers are used may also require the User’s consent. Whenever consent is given, it can be freely withdrawn at any time following the instructions provided in this document.
Play It Green uses Trackers managed directly by the Owner (so-called “first-party” Trackers) and Trackers that enable services provided by a third-party (so-called “third-party” Trackers). Unless otherwise specified within this document, third-party providers may access the Trackers managed by them.
The validity and expiration periods of Cookies and other similar Trackers may vary depending on the lifetime set by the Owner or the relevant provider. Some of them expire upon termination of the User’s browsing session.
In addition to what’s specified in the descriptions within each of the categories below, Users may find more precise and updated information regarding lifetime specification as well as any other relevant information – such as the presence of other Trackers – in the linked privacy policies of the respective third-party providers or by contacting the Owner.

Environmental Policy
Introduction
Our business is committed to lowering the carbon footprint of the business and its people, whilst ensuring positive environmental and social impacts can be made on the journey to net zero.
This policy covers 9 key programme areas, as per net zero framework which is used to assess, plan and take action in order to make positive change for the planet and its people. The nine key programme areas are: Governance, Energy & Emissions, Food, Procurement, Transportation, Facilities, Resource Use & Waste, Water and Projects & Workforce
The information gathered has been and will be used to set annual objectives and targets. We recognise improving environmental performance requires changes in the way we carry out our day to day business, which must nevertheless be consistent with our health and safety obligations, and also requires the support of every member of staff.
Supportive of Global Action on Climate Change, Biodiversity and Sustainability
Climate change is a global emergency that goes beyond national borders. It is an issue that requires international cooperation and coordinated solutions at all levels. Our policy supports the global commitment made by 192 countries and the EU towards the Paris Agreement, a legally binding international treaty, to substantially lower greenhouse gas emissions and pursue efforts to limit the increase beyond 1.5 degrees. Our policy also supports the 2019 UK law requiring net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. Our commitment supports NASAs view that humanity must respond to climate change through mitigation and adaption.
In support of Nature Conservation (Scotland) Act 2004 we will act to further the conservation of biodiversity. Taking the impact on biodiversity into account in all aspects of its decision-making e.g. operations such as purchasing of supplies, disposal of waste, use of paper, and water and energy resources.
In 2015, world leaders at the United Nations (UN) agreed on 17 Sustainability Development Goals (SDG) that would create a better world by 2030. These goals focus on eradicating poverty, fighting inequality and ending climate change. This policy recognises sustainability and net-zero are two different terms. Net-zero means leaving no carbon footprint (greenhouse gasses put into atmosphere = greenhouse gases taken out). Sustainability is a wider concept, that includes climate action, that looks to the 17 UN SDGs as a road map to greater sustainability. As these 17 goals are not only focused on the environment, but include greater equality, fair wages, and investing in diversity, our support to these areas are covered in other policies.
Play It Green operations deliver positive action on 11 of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. 10 through the tree planting with Eden Reforestation: 1 No Poverty, 2 Zero Hunger, 3 Good Health and Well-being 5. Gender Equality, 8 Decent Work & Economic Growth, 10 Reduced Inequalities, 13 Climate Action, 14 Life Below Water, 15 Life on Land and 17 Partnership for the Goals. The 11th SDG to be met is 4: Quality Education, as we provide regular weekly education on sustainable and environmental action.
The 9 key programme areas that will take our business to net zero:

To ensure continuity of delivery, training and measurement there will be sustainability lead on the board, the staff and a sustainability team. There will be a commitment to education, regularly measuring our status and appropriate policies being put into place e.g. Anti-Slavery, Equality & Diversity, Environmental etc. We recognise to succeed sustainability must play a key role in our governance, operations and outward profile

The business is committed to less energy waste and greener energy. This includes assessing energy use, energy supply, opportunities to self generate and ensuring energy efficiency within buildings and initiatives to reduce energy use.
